Last night at the Minnesota Trucking Association Safety Council meeting there was a review of the 2015 Trucks For Toys toy drive.

The safety council works hard to collect toys for disadvantaged kids in MN. Each year 100% of monetary donations go toward buying toys for kids, none of the money raised goes to any committee or association member salaries.

This year I am happy to say that the MTA teamed up with MN local big box store Target to shop for toys with all the money raised which was $9,000.00! The Target store in Blaine, MN graciously gave a 20% discount and had 3 designated checkout lanes just for Friday night’s MTA shopping event.  Due to this, 100% toy purchases turned into 120% for a total of $1,1000.00!

Besides collecting financial donations many MN trucking companies collected new toys at their offices and terminals. The final tally during Saturday’s toy sort came in at 4,262 toys donated at an average cost of $13.00 each. This makes for a total of $55,406.00 that was donated by trucking companies across the state of MN! How awesome is that!

The most important thing here is that 4,262 MN kids will receive a gift. For many kids a donated toy will be the only toy they receive this Christmas.
